Seoul Shelter for Women

 In News

The focus charity of the 2013 Melbourne Cup Luncheon was the Seoul Shelter for Women. This shelter provides services to over 430 marginalized homeless women annually.

They currently care for 170 residents at the centre and support another 260 who are hospitalised in Psychiatric care. Many of these women have been abandoned by their families and have no other options for support. Most of these women are elderly, suffer from mental health problems including dementia and many are long term residents.

The Seoul Shelter for Women provides a safe, warm and caring environment in which to live. In addition they provide medical care, mental health counseling, as well as encouraging the women into self-support programmes where possible.

ANZA aimed to raise KWR5 million at the 2013 Melbourne Cup to be allocated towards improving facilities at the shelter and providing much needed heating in critical areas.

We were delighted to raise over KWR10 million from our generous sponsors and the ANZA community attending the 2013 Melbourne Cup.

The additional KWR5 million was be allocated to ANZA’s other needy charities.
